Efrat's commercial centres

Food and shops in Efrat cluster in a few places, going by the addresses in the kashrut lists (kashrut portal (opens in a new tab); Efrat religious council (opens in a new tab)):

  • Te'ena (1 Netzer Yishai St), the first centre
  • Dekel, the second centre
  • Efrat Center in Zayit (Zayit Shemen St), the third
  • the Tamar centre on HaDvash St
  • the Dagan promenade (Tayelet Shlomo)

The council also runs a business index on its site, with restaurants and delivery (26 businesses) and shops (24) (council (opens in a new tab)). See the restaurants and groceries in the directory.

The Gush Etzion Junction and Kfar Etzion

The junction has the Kanyon Harim mall, Rami Levy, a fuel station, a garage, the Gush Etzion Winery with a dairy restaurant, and a plant nursery with a cafe (council (opens in a new tab)). At the entrance to Kfar Etzion, Hatzar HaKfar has about 40 shops including a large supermarket and restaurants; phone 02-5799929 (Gush tourism (opens in a new tab)).

Kashrut: two religious councils

Efrat and the Gush have separate religious councils. The Ministry of Religious Services portal lists the Efrat religious council (44 businesses) and the Gush Etzion religious council (113 businesses); Gush certificates shown were valid to Tevet 5787 (December 2026), at regular or mehadrin level (portal (opens in a new tab)).

The Efrat religious council publishes its own list of 53 supervised businesses with the level and neighbourhood of each, and says any business not on the list is not under its supervision. It also states that its supervisors are paid by the council, not by the business owner. Kashrut department: 02-9931772 (Efrat religious council (opens in a new tab)).

A few Gush places cite other supervision as well; for example, the Gush tourism site says Japan Japan holds Badatz Beit Yosef (Gush tourism (opens in a new tab)). Always check the certificate on the wall. Each restaurant in this directory shows its kashrut exactly as the source states it.

Pharmacies

Clalit has pharmacies in the Te'ena clinic (1 HaTe'ena St) and in Efrat Center (2 Zayit Shemen St). Maccabi lists two private pharmacies, Efrat Pharm (39 Sderot HaMelech David) and BE Efrat (2 Zayit Shemen St) (Clalit (opens in a new tab); Maccabi (opens in a new tab)).

Wineries

This is wine country. The Gush Etzion Winery at the junction has a visitor centre by appointment, and there are boutique wineries in Sde Boaz and Efrat. See wineries and places to visit.
